In 2015, Scene assessed the feasibility of a small scale community hydro project on a tributary of the Kyle of Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands. Working past preliminary grid connection issues, Scene were able to provide backgrounds, options and designs for a sub 100kW scheme to the client. With latent grid reinforcement, the project could reach a rated capacity of over 200kW. Providing technical expertise as well as carrying out in depth consultations, Scene were able to deliver a viable and locally suitable opportunities to the client. Unfortunately the project was not taken any further due to grid restrictions and uncertainty over the feed in tariff scheme.
