Salary:                   £40,000 - £48,000 FTE, depending on experience

Term:                     3, 4 or 5 days per week (negotiable), permanent position

Location:               Edinburgh (remote working supported)

Scene is a community energy specialist, supporting the low carbon transition through local ownership and control. We are recruiting an engineer to lead our energy modelling and energy simulations work in designing smart local energy systems. You will work alongside our solutions architect and software developers in a 6-person "ZUoS" tech team - based out of Edinburgh, on a 3, 4 or 5 day a week basis. It is expected you will have at least 3 years' professional or post-graduate experience within the energy sector.

We are developing a customised energy simulations tool to model energy flows across a local energy system, considering individual energy assets (to model flexibility for e.g. heat pumps, batteries and EV charge points), heat and buildings, and the local network. The digital model is used for planning and operating a net zero energy system - and working closely with communities to deliver a just transition.

Candidates with a passion for tackling fuel poverty and delivering a socially just net zero transition are invited to apply.

Who You Are

●        A graduate in engineering, with further post-graduate or professional experience in energy;

●        Specific interest and experience in simulations within the area of local energy systems;

●        Have a passion for a socially just net-zero transition.

What You’ll Do

●      Technical lead on energy modelling for the ZUoS Simulations product, joining an established team of 4 developers and a solutions architect, collaborating to solve the problems of smart local energy systems;

●      Define energy models and processes for the development team, modelling baseline and future systems;

●      Work with built environment specialists to integrate building and heating modelling capabilities, to support energy efficiency and home retrofit recommendations;

●      Work with engineering consultants to allow ZUoS Simulations capabilities to integrate with ZUoS Operations capabilities, which include analysing data to develop forecasting techniques, apply optimisation to scheduling and control of both simulated and real assets;

●      Help deliver energy strategy and innovation projects;

●        Help develop the detailed product vision;

●        Work in a friendly and constructive environment that supports your growth.
