The International Projects Officer will assist with ongoing international ICT research & development projects, and business development - working on building and coordinating new proposals.

Scene is a UK registered company with offices in Edinburgh, London and Bhubaneshwar (India). Founded in 2011, Scene provides community energy and energy access consultancy services in the UK, and works on ICT based research and development projects overseas. 
The research and development department is responsible for conceptualising, developing and commercialising ICT projects and products to support increased access to renewable energy in emerging economies. The team currently has operations in the UK, India, Latin America and Tanzania.


The International Projects Officer, who will report directly to the directors, role is to ensure that international projects are running effectively, and have the best chance of leading to commercialisation. This role involves liaising with international partners and overseas staff members, developing pilot projects, and supporting the fundraising strategy for various products. The role is within the ICT research and development team, but the applicant need not have formal IT training. The role is an entry-level post, which will be supported by project managers and the directors.


The key responsibilities of this role will be to assist the Co-Directors in ensuring ongoing funding for key projects, supporting commercialisation and working on business development for the company. Projects vary from social-enterprise based interventions, ensuring correct timelines and resources for current projects, to building new commercial propositions and financing strategies. Therefore, interaction with a wide-range of stakeholders and funders is to be expected. Knowledge of the international development funding landscape is desirable. 


For this role you will need a degree level qualification; ideally in economics, business management or international development. You will have some experience of working with international development and ICT. Language is a key requirement of this role; in addition to fluent English - Hindi and Spanish are desirable due to our current projects in countries speaking these languages. At least one of these languages must be spoken to a beginner’s level to merit an application. Language training will be provided to those with a more basic level of understanding. You must also be able to travel outside of the UK for work, possibly at short notice.
