Scene is an award-winning business developing innovative technology solutions based around renewable energy systems. For 10 years we have operated as a social enterprise, with our main focus in the Local Energy and Access to Energy sectors in the UK, sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. We have offices in Edinburgh, London (UK) and Kigali (Rwanda) and projects ongoing around the world. Scene provides consultancy and research services alongside our R&D business meaning we have unique market insight as both practitioners and researchers.

This role will involve working with Scene and our partner organisation Connected Energy. Scene co-founded Connected Energy in 2018 and supports their mission of providing access to renewable energy services in rural and off-grid areas of the globe.
Job Description
Working with our software and design teams, the Designer will continue the design of our software products and be responsible for designing components and products from scratch. Responsibilities will include gathering user requirements and feedback, analysing user behaviour, designing graphic elements, and building navigation components. To be successful in this role, you should have experience with design software and wireframe tools. In addition, you will provide support across the business with graphics and branding.
You should be able to demonstrate skills and experience in:
· User-centric design: ability to gather and evaluate user requirements; Interpret data and qualitative feedback; Prepare and present drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders; Conduct usability testing and layout adjustments based on user feedback.
· Strong brand identity and market differentiation: planning and conducting user research and competitor analysis; creating or illustrating design ideas user stories, personas, storyboards, process flows and sitemaps; developing and adhering to style standards on fonts, colours and images.
· Design expertise: designing graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets.
· Developing UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look.
· Create original graphic design (e.g. images, sketches, leaflets etc).
· Identifying and troubleshooting UX problems.
Qualifications & Experience
· 1+ years of relevant experience
· Knowledge of design tools like Adobe XD or Figma
· Knowledge of graphics packages like Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Designer
· Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and use of tools like GitHub and Slack
· Interest in renewable energy and climate change
