In 2024/25, Scene conducted a comprehensive feasibility study and options appraisal for Clanfield Parish in West Oxfordshire, funded by the UK Government’s Community Energy Fund. The study assessed how low carbon energy developments can benefit Clanfield’s residents and businesses by reducing energy bills and carbon emissions, while creating income streams to support community-driven initiatives.
Scene explored the viability of solar and wind energy systems, while community-wide decarbonisation schemes were also assessed to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and improve local energy security. Environmental and financial appraisals were also conducted to provide Clanfield with recommendations and practical next steps. Scene identified that a large-scale ground mounted solar array to the west of the village would be viable, while also recommending community-led programmes to improve building energy efficiency and install low-carbon heat pumps. Following the conclusion of the study, Scene supported the client in appraising the current funding options and assessing eligibility before steps towards progressing the proposed developments could be taken.
