The Poor People's Energy Outlook series (PPEO) was launched in 2010 to shine a light on energy access from the perspectives of the poor. By drawing on the realities of energy-poor people, the PPEO series has been hugely influential in re-framing the energy access narrative.

Scene were part of the analysis team for PPEO 2017, looking at the technologic and financial needs for scaling up energy access in Bangladesh, Kenya and Togo.

Scene also acted as a research partner on the 7th PPEO research paper, 2018. This 7th edition investigates market activation of the private sector in energy access, how this could be achieved and how to reach energy access at scale.
