In Autumn 2024, Scene hosted and led several online community energy workshops on behalf of the North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub (NEYNZH). Each event was conducted to upskill participants on community energy project development and to provide attendees with an opportunity to ask community energy experts questions about their own projects. The events were open to anyone with an interest in community energy, with a particular focus on community representatives and those seeking to kick-start a community energy project in the North-East or Yorkshire.

Four workshop event were held, each focusing on a specific theme within community energy:

• Workshop 1: Low Carbon Technologies

• Workshop 2: Net Zero Project Planning

• Workshop 3: Commercial Case Development

• Workshop 4: Community Energy Governance and Procurement

Workshops included an introduction to Scene, the NEYNZH, the Community Energy Fund (CEF) and the relevant workshop topic. The latter half of each workshop included an interactive session and forum – whereby attendees could ask presenters their own specific queries, or to learn more about the themes introduced in the presentation slides. Attendees to events included community group members, NEYNZH representatives, external consultants and local authority representatives.
