Following a growing trend of the availability of 'buy-in' opportunities to commercial projects, Scene worked with Lesmahagow Development Trust (LDT) in 2014 to purchase a stake in a farm-based wind energy scheme. Joint ventures like this provide an excellent opportunity for community groups to benefit from local development, without taking on the major risk burden that renewable energy entails.
Scene have helped LDT's efforts by managing stakeholders, offering financial assistance and modelling, as well as drawing up a community business plan on behalf of the trust. The project is current in construction with Scene playing a vital role in securing funding from the Scottish Government's Renewable Energy Investment Fund, to purchase a 25% stake in the project for our clients.
