In a collaboration with Edinburgh University, and funded by the ClimateXchange, Scene investigated the social factors which influence the success of community energy schemes in Scotland. Pulling together data from EnGAGE Scotland, Community Energy Scotland (CES) and Scene’s own Scene Connect database, the report provides an unprecedented overview of community energy in Scotland. The report – found here – details the social barriers which community energy may face and suggests routes to improving uptake and success in the community energy sector.
This work is widely recognised as a seminal paper in Scottish community energy and has been cited in academic and industry work and in the Scottish Government's first ever Community Energy Policy Statement.
