From Autumn 2023, Scene has been a framework provider for the Sheffield Energy Audit Framework, conducted on behalf of Sheffield City Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). Scene conducts PAS2035 / 2038 compliant energy-efficiency surveys to applicants, helping them to better understand their building energy systems and energy use, as well as the financial and environmental implications of their energy use. From here, we conduct energy options appraisals to recommended energy efficiency and generation measures to applicants, prior to progressing funding applications. Energy efficiency measures which are commonly investigated include improvements to building structural insulation, energy-efficient lighting, renewable heating solutions, and renewable energy generation systems – such as rooftop mounted solar PV or wind turbine systems. Specialised industrial equipment or building management systems (BMS), required on heavy industrial and large commercial sites are also regularly accommodated within bespoke assessments. As of Summer 2024, Scene has identified approximately 1,223 MWh of potential energy savings – representing more than £200,000 in energy bill savings. Applicants have come from across Sheffield and the wider South Yorkshire region, and have included local museums, libraries, religious organisations, industrial manufacturers and hospitality businesses.
